Dreamgirls, Rocky, and Jurassic Park at the Smithsonian
It’s the holidays and that means movies, movies, movies. Some are better than others. I refuse to see Night at the Museum. Looks like Jurassic Park at the Smithsonian. Dreamgirls — now I did enjoy seeing that in a crowded theater of people full of turkey and pumpkin pie on Christmas night. Have to say it was more Broadway than Motown music-wise. Not that that’s a bad thing. In my opinion Broadway and Motown both rock!
Speaking of rock that brings me to Rock-y or actually Rocky Balboa. Which Rocky movie is this now? Number 5? Or is it Rocky 6? Either way, it’s more than enough of Rocky Balboa that’s for sure. Here’s the capsule review I found on Yahoo Movies: Former heavyweight champion Rocky Balboa played by Sylvester Stallone (really? you’re kidding me. Sly Stallone playing Rocky Balboa?) steps out of retirement and back into the ring, pitting himself against a new rival decades after his initial glory. You’ll have to tell me how this one ends (although I think I have a good guess). I’ll pass on this Rocky. Maybe if Stallone drank some ViaViente (that’s one word, not Via Viente) and got some antioxidants in him he might stand a chance in the ring. Or, better yet, maybe if one of our Presidentials coached him he could find himself with a fresh movie idea for a change rather than up against the ropes with a 30 year old concept that he’s rehashed now into Rocky 5. Or is that Rocky 6?

E. Coli Outbreak and Craig Keeland’s Chia Head Pet
December 14, 2006 (Dallas, TX) A spokesperson for the Centers for Disease Control declared today that there is absolutely no link between the recent E. coli outbreak on the East Coast and Craig Keeland’s Chia Head Pet.
Investigators say the main connection seems to be between a well known fast-food chain and their customers, many of whom have fallen ill with E. coli poisoning in recent weeks. Tainted lettuce appears to be the culprit in the spread of this episode of E. coli contamination.
And though restaurant sales have significantly declined for the fast-food giant, sales of Craig Keeland’s antioxidant drink product ViaViente have continued to grow dramatically. Unfortunately, the scare has had absolutely no impact on the sale of Chia Pets or Chia Heads.
Keeland responded to reporters on a conference call Thursday. “I personally feel safer knowing my Chia Head has been cleared of any implications in the E. coli outbreak. I sleep better at night knowing there is no tainted lettuce in my Chia Head and so should all Chia owners, past and present.â€
The CDC spokesperson declined to comment about Chia Heads, other than to say, “It’s a shame we couldn’t nail those annoying Chia gifts once and for all. They’re ugly and a nuisance, but they are safe for your family.â€
