Sheri Sharman’s Home Featured in Castles of Carlsbad Spring Home Tour

Sheri Sharman’s magnificent 5000 square food Mediterranean-style home will be part of The Castles of Carlsbad Spring Home Tour on May 5th. Read on for more.

The Castles of Carlsbad Spring Home Tour is presented by the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation. This year’s tour is titled “The California Collection”. The popular self-guided tour will feature six wonderfully unique homes custom-designed for homeowners living the “California Dream”.

One of the homes featured this year is the home of Via Presidential Sales Leader Sheri Sharman who has been a Carlsbad resident since 1960. Sheri’s home features Mediterranean architecture, lush landscaping, and a custom interior that reveals her passion for dolphins. Maybe this is why the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation has named Sheri’s home “California Ocean Dreams”.

And to top it all off, Sheri was featured in last Friday’s edition of the San Diego Union Tribune in a story about the Castles of Carlsbad Tour. Click here to read that story. http://www.todayslocalnews.com/?sect=tln&p=3006

Congratulations Sheri!

The Answer to EVERY Problem, from Bill Pike

The Answer to every Problem is Within the Problem.  One example is found in Enterprise, Alabama and is a clue why the answer to every problem is in the problem. We all know that cotton and the south go hand in hand.  In Alabama years ago a visitor arrived to deliver a BIG PROBLEM, the boll weevil.  It had been living in Mexico and decided one day to PAY Alabama a visit.  It came to discourage all the farmers in Alabama, to make them quit, give up.  ALL THE COTTON CROPS WERE DESTROYED, A MAJOR PROBLEM.  As with every problem one of three things happened.

1. Some quit
2. Some quit working
3. Some went to work, with new awareness

Some sold their farm, some just moved, but the answer to every problem is in the problem itself.  Some would not change the way they work their business because it was all they knew.  Some continued to plant cotton with the same results.  It is so easy to quit or even quit working instead of changing what isn’t working.  Think of the person who just got mad and took out their revenge by not working, boy did he show everyone.

Some of the farmers would not quit so they planted things like soybeans and peanuts instead.  Plus they started to raise cattle and pigs and other livestock.  THEY MADE MORE MONEY THAN THEY DID WITH THE COTTON.  The real problem was nobody thought of doing anything different because their parents raised cotton, their grandparents raised cotton, etc. They did not have to think about how to raise cotton—it was automatic, no thought required.

There is now a monument in Enterprise, Alabama to the boll weevil and it reads: “IN PROFOUND APPRECIATION OF THE BOLL WEEVIL AND WHAT IT HAS DONE TO HERALD PROSPERITY.”  See, THEY PLANTED PEANUTS AND SOYBEANS WHERE THE PROBLEM USED TO BE—COTTON.  Some continued to plant cotton because they expected different results.

HOW ABOUT YOU?  William James said, “WHEN adversity comes you have two emotions, fight or flight.”  What is interesting is he did not say IF adversity comes he said WHEN adversity comes which means we all have problems.  LIFE IS 10% WHAT HAPPENS TO ME AND 90% HOW I REACT TO IT.  Some of the farmers planted different crops and put their minds on the end result instead of the problem.  HOW ABOUT YOU?

Komen for the Cure at 25

Nancy Brinker remembers when her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1977.  Susie was only 33.  In those days, diagnosis meant misinformation and limited options.  Before Susie died, she asked her sister Nancy to help find a cure.  Ms. Brinker rallied friends and formed a nonprofit foundation in 1982.  She started with $200, a typewriter, and a list of names.  A year later, she organized the first Race for the Cure which attracted 800 runners to the Galleria in Dallas.

Today, 25 years later, Komen for the Cure has raised nearly $1 billion for Breast Cancer research.  There are now 122 national and 3 international Komen affiliates run by more than 100,000 volunteers.  Each affiliate hosts a local Race for the Cure.  In 2006 there were 120 Race for the Cure events with more than 1.5 million participants.  Funds raised support numerous breast cancer research and patient support programs.  Additionally, Komen has become the primary beneficiary of the 3-Day Walk.

ViaViente is a Race for the Cure sponsor in Dallas and Plano.  Craig Keeland says, “ViaViente is committed to helping Komen in the Journey for the Cure!”

Antioxidants Supporting Your Health

Excerpted from the Dallas Morning News, 3.04.07 Jennifer Thompson, a clinical dietitian with Baylor University Medical Center says, “The antioxidants in fruits and vegetables help repair damaged tissue. During everyday living, we are exposed to a number of factors that can damage tissue. The body is always in a state of repairing itself, and adequate nutrition helps repair the body. Phytochemicals can’t be duplicated and put into nutritional supplements, which makes them unique. Phytochemicals are protective in the body and help repair damage. It still comes down to the common sense that our mothers told us. You are better off getting the nutrition through food as opposed to supplements.”

Genius, Excellence and Helen Keller

It has been said that not one person has ever used more than 3 percent of their potential for greatness.  Some even say most of us remain in the 1 percent arena of using our potential.  A Genius is someone who uses one tenth of 1 percent MORE than others.  That is not much.  But it is because they TRY.  Helen Keller is a good example of someone excelling in spite of the handicaps that she was born with.  The universe is FULL of those who should have never done anything because they had all the reasons in the world not to excel.  In spite of their disadvantages, they put the majority of people in the dust.

Craig Keeland, Bill Pike, Sheri Sharman, Buck Reed and others show us how to excel because they lead by example with our company ViaViente.  To learn more, go to www.ViaViente.com.
