Cancer Expected to Skyrocket in Asia by 2020

SINGAPORE – Asia is bracing for a dramatic surge in cancer rates over the next decade as people in the developing world live longer and adopt bad Western habits that greatly increase the risk of the disease.

Smoking, drinking and eating unhealthy foods — all linked to various cancers — will combine with larger populations … to drive Asian cancer rates up 60 percent by 2020, some experts predict.

But unlike in wealthy countries where the world’s top medical care is found, there will likely be no prevention or treatment for many living in poor countries.  “The habit of alcohol consumption, smoking and dietary changes will increase the risk of Western world cancers to the Eastern world,” Shah said.  An estimated 40 percent of cancers worldwide can be prevented by exercise, eating healthy foods and not using tobacco, according to the World Health Organization.

Work Expands to Meet the Time Alloted to Complete the Work – Bill Pike

This is Parkingson’s law and will always be popular with management teachings especially in universities.  This statement is a fact.  Here is another fact:  Results expand according to the effectiveness of the time invested.  You cannot expand time.  We all have 24 hours in a day.  You CAN expand the amount of activities in the SAME amount of time, which will give you more results. 

Let’s say you work a J.O.B. from 9-5 every day.     

1. You are given an assignment
2. You have to work until 5pm
3. Your work expands or is drawn out to make it last until 5pm
4. If you complete your assignment by 10am, you have to look busy until 5pm so you expand the work to meet the time.  
5. Now this becomes part of your LIFE–always BUSY and is how we got to “look busy” rather than createate results.  

Note to employees:  Learn how to take one minute per day and become THE employee the company “cannot do without”. 

SO, here are your options:  Expand Your Work To Meet the Time OR Get MORE RESULTS By Being More Effective.   THIS IS WHY “ALL ADVERSITY HAS THE SEED OF SUCCESS.  Seeds are not EFFECTIVE sitting in a bag, you can be BUSY throwing seeds everywhere instead of planting them in EFFECTIVE rows.  They may even look good,  but seeds not taken care of will not produce.
