Craig Keeland Selected For Texas Governor’s Council On Physical Fitness
Texas State Governor Rick Perry has appointed Craig Keeland, Vía’s Founder and CEO, to be part of the Texas Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness. Rick Perry knows that regular physical activity reduces a person’s risk of coronary disease, Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and colon cancer. He also agrees that exercise helps control weight, reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression, and helps maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints.
Because physical activity and proper nutrition are at the core of maintaining good health and preventing disease, Texas Governor Rick Perry established the Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness. This 15-member council is charged with promoting physical activity and good nutrition to all of Texas, advising the Governor on matters relating to health and nutrition education, physical fitness and sports, and encouraging local community efforts to increase opportunities for physical activity.
Rick Perry is a long-time ViaViente user and personal friend of Craig. With Craig’s personal and professional expertise in health and nutrition, he will certainly be an asset to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness.
“Rick Perry called me on Christmas Eve to send holiday wishes and ask that more Vía be sent his way. In his words, ‘Craig, don’t let me get old!’”
Spring of 2008 will see a celebration day in Austin, Texas, dedicated to health and fitness. The festivities will include a “Texasize 10K,” a fitness festival and health expo, and a post-day concert. This event is planned to attract thousands to celebrate living a healthy lifestyle.
