Resilience

Stress in small doses can motivate us to find a better way to accomplish tasks. In large doses, chronic stress can have a number of adverse effects including depression, headaches, stomach issues and other manifestations of physical illness. Our families, our personalities and our life experiences all mold how we deal with stress.

If you are someone who “Doesn’t Sweat the Small Stuff” then congratulations! You are letting life’s stresses roll off your back and enjoying the positive aspect of every experience and every challenge.

Dangerous Phosphates

Phosphates are chemicals commonly found in soft drinks and many processed foods. Researchers at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom have found a dangerous link between high consumption of phosphates and atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. Hardening of the arteries is the leading cause of heart disease.

Phosphates > Hardening of the Arteries > Heart Disease.

This equation is an easy one to break down. The British researchers conducting the study found more cholesterol deposits in the artery walls of people who ate a diet high in phosphates.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year begins on January 23. It is a time to welcome longevity, wealth and prosperity and to eliminate any negativity from the past.

This Chinese New Year of 2012 is the Year of the Dragon – specifically the Water Dragon. The Year of the Dragon is predicted to be marked by excitement, unpredictability, exhilaration and intensity. Water exerts a calming influence on the Dragon’s innate fire. The Dragon is the 5th sign of the Chinese zodiac and is regarded as an auspicious symbol which stands for power, good luck, success and happiness.
